2019 Northern Soul nights and scooter club events
January 4th : Every Mother’s Son, Brighton
Featuring Area 51 SC’s Adrian George, EMS will be performing at the trendy Hotel Pelirocco on Regency Square, Brighton, BN1 2FG. Featuring DJ Gremlin, 8pm – 11pm, free entry! If you fancy staying over in one of my favourite places then here are a selection of hotels.
January 5th : Skegby SC presents the Superskas

January 10th : VFM & Stockport Crusaders – late Christmas social
Held at the Ruby Lounge, 28 High Street, Manchester, M4 1QB. 8pm – 2am. Tickets £5, all proceeds go to ‘New Start’ Wythenshawe Hospital transplant fund. More info on the Facebook event here and you can check out digs here.
January 19th : Kingston Soul Club Mini Dayer
Held at Kingston Working Men’s Club, 25 Old London Road, Kingston, KT2 6ND. Playing Classic Northern Soul, Motown, 60s, 70s Soul with a splash of R & B with plenty of space on a large wooden dance floor. Record dealers welcome. Resident DJ’s Dennis Hyde (Soul Cruise, South Coast Soul) & Keith Robinson (South Coast Soul) and special Guest DJs Sam Evans, Andy Baskett & Fiona Shenton. 4pm – midnight. February 1st : Northern Soul night at Funky Fish, Brighton
9pm – 2am, here is the Facebook event. Brighton can be expensive to stay in overnight but here are the current deals on Booking.com for this night. I also have a special link for AirBnB which can be much cheaper, especially if there is a gang of you going. February 3rd : Soul Sessions in Arundel
Arundel’s Sunday Soul Sessions are back for 2019. An afternoon of spinning pure vinyl of Northern Soul and Motown from across the board. Resident DJ Tony Cassini accompanied with our guest DJs Dennis Hyde, Sid Marshall and Colin Slater. Free admission, families welcome, free parking.

February 9th : South Coast Soul, Bognor Regis

February 24th : South West Scooter Clubs AGM
Held at Raleghs Cross Inn, Brendon Hill, Exmoor. Open to everyone for a catch-up from midday, meeting is 2pm (two members from each SWSC affiliated club). More info on the Facebook event here.
February 22nd – 24th : Weymouth Soul Club’s 3rd Gran Soul Weekender
Held at the Riviera Hotel, Bowleaze Cove, Weymouth. Tickets available on the club’s website here, which cost £20 for the whole weekend (including free patch) or £12.50 for Friday or Saturday, £10 for Sunday. March 1st – 3rd : Prague Northern Soul Weekender
Held at Royal Theatre & Club Chic, Vinohradska 48, 12000, Prague, Czech Republic. Seven international DJs supported by the Prague Allnighters team. More details on the Facebook event.
March 3rd : London Dome Alldayer
Held at The Dome, Tufnell Park, London. 7th Anniversary Special with DJs Sean Chapman, Derek Mead & Ann Taylor. Tickets £8 in advance from www.buytickets.at/soulnites or £10 on the door.
Held at Volks Bar, Madeira Drive, featuring DJs including Jerry Dammers, Darren Bennett, Madam Scorcher and Soul Pressure Sound System DJ Terry Hendrick. Celebrating the 40th anniversary of 2-Tone records, tickets £8 in advance, 9pm – 3am. More details on the Volks website here.

March 23rd : Soul Night in Weston
Hosted by Emma Cox and Ian Rossiter at The Grand Atlantic, Beach Road, Weston-Super-Mare. Guest DJ Shaun Robson joins Emma and Ian spinning the vinyl at this great venue with a sprung dancefloor. Accommodation deals here via Booking.com.
March 23rd : Turnin’ My Heartbeat Up, Arundel
Turnin’ My Heartbeat Up is back for 2019! 4 hours of 100% pure Northern Soul and Motown, spinning nothing but the best vinyl. Resident DJ Tony Cassini will be spinning as well as Danny North, Terry Nicholas and Soulie Simon to keep your heartbeats up and your feet on the dance floor. Held at Arundel Football Club, Mill Road, BN18 9PA. 8pm – midnight, £4 OTD, great dance floor, bar available, free parking at venue.
April 6th : Worthing Classic Scooter Custom Show
Held at Goring Conservative Club, 49 Mulberry Lane, BN12 4RA. Featuring trade stalls, BBQ, and a raffle, with a twelve category custom scooter show. Evening entertanment features Skabretta and Mod&Soul. All money raised is for the Ferring Country Centre which provides local independance, training and work experience for people with learning disabilities, and also horseriding therapy (www.ferringcountrycentre.org). All-day tickets will go on sale on 14th January @ £10 (limited numbers for all-day tickets), daytime entrance is available OTD @ £5. No U14s in the evening. April 7th : Classic Scooter Show, Baldock

April 28th Disco Soul Gold cruise
Cruise along the Thames with Solar Radio DJ Gary Spence and DSG Starpoint Radio DJ Gary Van den Bussche. #1 Soul chart star George B from the Groove Association is singing live.

May 17th – 19th : Woolybacks SC Spring Bash 3

June 29th : WOBS Alldayer
Wimpson Old Boys Scooter Club present their alldayer at The Saints Pub, Kendall Avenue, Millbrook, Southampton, SO16 9LP. Live music from Butterfly Collective, Pier Pressure and The Bootlegs, plus DJ sets from Jason Lock. From midday – midnight, rideout 1pm, bands from 3pm. Free entry, all welcome, donations to SDIFTK.
