If you start the day with a protein-rich breakfast then you’ll stay fuller for longer, but what can are the most tasty and nutritious choices?
Breakfast is the most important meal of the day and eggs make the perfect start to the day and are packed with protein. To add more protein without ‘spending’ much more on calories add egg whites to a whole egg to make scrambled eggs or an omelette. You could treat yourself to some smoked salmon, for a luxury option which contains even more protein and some healthy fats. If you are adding bread or toast then some brands offer higher protein options, like Tesco Finest Farmhouse High Protein bread.
Eggs can be portable too, if you’re out and about at the start of the day or need something to take to work. Hard boiled eggs can be sliced into sandwiches, or if you have a microwave then it’s easy to scramble them.
I’m not a massive fan of avocado, but if you like it then it’s ideal for breakfast, mashed on a piece of toast with some scrambled eggs.
Although processed meat isn’t the most nutritious choice, Heck chicken sausages are low in fat and calories, and have a high meat content. They can be eaten with eggs or on their own with bread or toast to make a tasty sausage sandwich. They are great to take to work too, as they can be cooked ahead of time in bulk and then reheated with a microwave.
Or how about Total 0% greek yogurt with some berries or other fruit? If I’m stuck then I always have some tinned fruit in the cupboard as a standby option. I also add a sprinkle of low sugar granola for a delicious and filling breakfast.
