Warmwell – Friday Night

The 2018 Warmwell rally moved back a week and has now crept into December but  nobody could complain about the weather on the Friday though, as it was a bright sunny day and the temperature was in double figures.

I must confess now though that I went in the car, mainly as my immunity is low so I have to be careful with lots of things.  We met the riders at Worlds End in Dorset for lunch, with them having ridden on the A roads as Snowy was running in some new piston rings.

Snowy’s scooter is always a work in progress, and never the same for more than a month!  It’s now had yet another new paint job, this time being given the full rusty look which I really like.  I know it’s not to everyone’s taste but that’s the joy of customising scooters – there are so many different styles and each bike is unique.

It was also the first outing for Mark’s new ride, a super-fast Lambretta RB240.

I took some action shots too, the first of which includes an extra ‘bonus’ for the eagle-eyed amongst you!

 

 

 

We arrived, bought our wristbands, checked in and rebooked for next year.  I love this rally site and our accommodation is fab, nestled in the beautiful Dorset countryside.

We spent a couple of hours socialising in the lodge before venturing out.  This year’s ‘socialising’ included a pop quiz and music intro challenge which was very entertaining and will be repeated soon due to popular demand!   I’m not sure who won but it was a photo finish between Mark, Lee and Stacey.

Snowy and Lee then paid homage to a club member who couldn’t make it this weekend.  I’ll leave it to your imagination who it was…

And then the others joined in too!

We then headed to the do, where the rally crew were all dressed in festive gear.  Who doesn’t love a cuddly Father Christmas or elf?   I have to say that some were more cuddly than others…

Then it was time to catch up with some old friends for a good natter…

 

 

Pete Davies was taking photos for SLUK and we were sabotaging each other for the band shots!  Note that he’s covering up the contents of his glass…  Was it neat vodka or water?  We shall never know…

Chilli was spinning the tunes in the Northern room to an appreciative audience.  He didn’t have a rally crew shirt, just a Father Christmas beard!

Then we headed back to the main room for more silly photos and to catch the end of the band’s set.

Nick Gypsy, Sally Webster and a mate.  Nick was keen to share his first rally story but didn’t actually remember much about it!

The Decatonics played a mix of ska classics.

Jamie was in charge of keeping order on the dancefloor…

I had such a brilliant night, helped by being amongst some of the most lovely people I know in a chilled and friendly atmosphere.  By midnight I was peckish so we headed back for hot cross buns, and to recharge our batteries for the next day’s fun!

Footnote : I’m writing this blog in the bar area where there’s good Wifi, being distracted by a playful Snowy making me watch YouTube videos of dogs wiping their bums!  I’m not sure that’s what the internet was invented for…
