Saturday dawned at Warmwell scooter rally to the sound of pouring rain, but it soon turned into a light drizzle so we nipped down to the bar for breakfast and to make use of the wifi for the Friday write-up.
We wandered around the stalls where my eyes were drawn to the multitude of patches on the Kulture Shack stall – I feel a craft project coming on!
Scooters were gathering for the custom show so I stopped for a few photos.
I finally got to meet Garagista Sean Robinson in person, who had just arrived on his latest oddity.
There were also some more standard-looking scooters for those who prefer that sort of thing!
But despite a good showing of standard scooters, there were definitely plenty more oddities on show including this Lambretta Copper Chopper!
This customised LD was getting a lot of attention too.
Good to see a tidy PK as well, which to me is such an 80s throwback!
I had a lovely chat with this lady who was the first female Garagista I’ve met in person. Bored with her standard GTS she set about painting and customising it. She loves how ratty it is and I think the dolls’ heads are brilliant!
Mark’s scooter sadly arrived too late for the judging.
We then had a lovely surprise as Snowy won a trophy for best oddity!
He was delighted, and paused for a photo with another trophy winner.

We then went into Weymouth for lunch, which was good fun and I had a quick wander around the town. It was all very festive, with choirs singing Christmas carols, mulled wine stalls and free car parking. I would have loved to explore properly but didn’t want to drag Lee around the shops on a scooter rally!
We went back to the lodge to chill before the evening’s fun. We started with a pop quiz again, and I also had some TV theme tunes for the intro round. It was a real trip down memory lane and absolutely hilarious!
Then we headed out for the do, with me in a sparkly glittery top to go with the Christmas theme. I felt underdressed though, with scooterists in various festive costumes including elves, Santa and Christmas jumpers!
This sad-looking elf was actually having a great time!
People were in good spirits!
I’d been really looking forward to seeing Basket Case. They didn’t disappoint on the costume front, all dressed in santa and elf suits!
There’s no other rally band who entertain the crowd like they do, and their set is brilliant. This time it included I Don’t Like Mondays, alongside their classics like London Calling, Down In The Tube Station At Midnight and Sound Of The Suburbs.
Simmo was decidedly nervous when the singer came for a chat…

They saved the best til last though… After boasting that they’d managed to avoid playing any Christmas songs, their final encore was Fairytale of New York, with the singer switching from Kirsty MacColl to Shane McGowan for each part, it was absolute genius.
Given that I was completely sober, but danced through their whole set, I can honestly say it was the best end to a rally I can remember.
I was so sad to leave but it was good to go on a high. I’d like to thank Andy, Ness, Stuart and everyone else involved in putting the SWSC events on . They run like clockwork and have such a friendly atmosphere. It was great to catch up with old friends and also meet new ones. To those who came to speak to me having recognised me from this website, I’d like to thank you too! Your readership and comments mean the world to me and I’m really grateful.
